Pages is extremely useful, versatile, and well-made. Great app.
Pages is extremely useful, versatile, and well-made. Great app.
I used this app all the time. I had to update when my iPad froze and had to be reset. (Another glitch with iOS 9) Now I have all my documents frozen. It says they are updating and I cant open any of them. Im very unhappy.
I remember when I first encountered apple software: everything seemed deceptively simple. It was intuitive and easy to use, yes, but always came with the pleasant surprise of being far more capable and powerful than it at first seemed. For some years now, Apple has been pursuing the opposite policy. Now much of its software-- iWork is a case in point and Pages is the poster child--has been far less capable than it at first seems. The Mac version is a sort of joke -- more than 100 features that were in version 4.3 are simply missing, from the ability to set facing pages to the ability to link text boxes, auto-capitalize sentences, or select non-contiguous text ( not to mention mail merge). All this demolition was supposed to be in the interests of feature parity, but it turns out that that, too, is a fantasy. In Pages for iOS it is impossible to create or edit formulas in tables, which renders the whole idea of feature parity ridiculous. A truly lamentable piece of software.
Dont get me wrong. I like this app. It does its basic job. When you get into the more in depth section, however, it is really finicky to use.
Pages wont let me open several of my documents in iPhone and iPad Pages--i get an error message that states: Update required go to Apps. I go to Apps, but i dont need an update. Ive also update to the latest ios software 9.3.1. Ive restarted my device, Ive tried opening Pages in Apps. Nothing works. HELP!!!!
This app is great in practice, it works as a little more than a basic word processor. But compared to Microsofts Word for iPad Pro, this app is lacking a little. The main reason I choose to use it over Microsoft Word is iCloud support, was is phenomenal. I wish the app would be updated with newer features and better formatting techniques. The app would benefit from a user interface refresh and I wish this app would be updated regularly like Microsofts apps.
Passable on iPad, useless on iPhone. Depressing because of what it could be. Comes bundled with anxiety because you dont know if Apple still cares about iWork at all and theres so many people who still do.
I love Pages. The fact that I can save my papers to Dropbox is awesome, but why is there not an agreement with Dropbox to allow any extensions to open from their database?
Its a great microsoft office for ios without needing an account. And its easy to put in words charts and pictures and graphs too however i like them. But for something apple made i would expect the ui have feature be made avilable easier. Like for exaple how do i change the color of a title, or resize the title nice and big. And why despite the size of the app do i need an internet connection to get the in app manual that seems like it should be downloaded into the app already. I havent seen any videos in it. But if you want a good app for basic typing, making it idiot proof to move graphcis and pictures, then buy this app.
I do tons of word processing, and document layouts weekly, and Pages is always my word processing software of choice. Oddly I was trained to word process on MS Word, and had never used Pages until buying my first Mac about 7 years ago. Still, I immediately fell in love with the results I can achieve. Despite being somewhat minimalist in appearance, Pages offers features to produce powerful texts. With Pages I can produce the most professional or beautiful documents with ease. Unlike Word, Pages isnt overloaded with difficult to find features, and the array of available fonts is yet another reason why Pages is a superior software for anyones word processing needs.
I us to love page but now its to I cant rely do image resizing...
The keyboard wont even pop up most of the time. Trying to finish an essay after my laptop dies is impossible. I can see why most apple software is now free. Apple software went way downhill since Steve jobs has been gone. Sorry Steve, your legacy is crashing.
Ive done all the normal things... But with the new iOS 9.3.1 Pages on my iPad can no longer accesses my iCloud and when I start a new document, it doesnt save, even without iCloud??? I can still use pages on my phone... But I have pushed off on upgrading. I have had to go back to WORD and Microsoft to do my writing.
As a person always looking for ways to write on the go I was initially excited about having pages on both my iPad and ipod touch with the capability of syncing. But the interface is clunky and slow. I also hate that I can only have a stark white background. A dark grey or even sepia option helps the eyes and isnt that hard to program.
This app works just fine. IDK why its getting some bad reviews. Im currently using it on iOS 9.3.1 for iPhone 5c. This app is a lot better than Notes. A LOT better. Five stars!
Loved pages until this last iOS. Now it opens, but shuts down. Non of my documents have downloaded from the cloud. It is of no use to me at all. Looking for a new app that will work with my iPad.
Pages has become a really stupid program. The simplest task has the most arcane and roundabout steps to make it work. It used to be intuitive, not any more. Ill have to go back to (yuchhh) word or indesign. You really messed up Apple and since it is not REALLY backwards compatible, Ive lost a lot of time having to redo and restore older documents. A BIG THUMBS DOWN.
In pages when I move a text box a yellow line shows when I am aligned with the center of the page, a text block, an image, or with a table. Word for iPad has no such ability, even in a less intuitive way. The Pages UI is simple and I found everything I needed to insert an image and make it transparent. I can rotate with a two finger gesture just like I would with a photo on a real desk. Tables were also easier to deal with in Pages when it came to choosing an entire row or column. I love it. I played with Pages and Word for days comparing similar actions. When I ran into a hang up with Word I searched the web and couldnt find a solution. I dont recall anything I couldnt do with Pages.
Much better than Microsoft Word. Pages has Publisher feel to it.
